According to a report by the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on August 29, 2023, a Baloch civilian named Mehdi Naghibi, 22 years old, son of Hashem and resident of the Koohak area in Saravan County, lost his life due to direct gunfire from military forces towards a vehicle at the entrance of Iran Shahr city.

Sources from the Balochistan Human Rights Group state that in the early morning, Mehdi was driving his Peugeot Pars towards Iranshahr for personal business when military forces opened fire on him without prior warning. He was shot in the heart area and succumbed to his injuries.

It is important to note that this incident is a clear violation of human rights, as the use of lethal force without warning and proper justification is a breach of international human rights standards. The report also highlights the alarming number of Baloch civilians who have lost their lives due to direct gunfire from military forces and unidentified armed individuals associated with military entities. In 2022 alone, 243 Baloch civilians were killed under similar circumstances, shedding light on a pattern of human rights abuses in the region.
