Death of a Baloch Citizen in Mehristan Intelligence Detention Center Following Arrest and Severe Beating

According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Thursday, February 19, 2026 (corresponding to 30 Bahman 1404), a Baloch citizen who had been arrested by Intelligence Administration forces in Mehristan County on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 (28 Bahman 1404) and transferred to the detention facility of this agency, lost his life after two days in the same detention center.

According to received information, signs of fractures and burns were observed on the body of this citizen, and reports indicate that he died as a result of severe beating during detention.

The identity of this Baloch citizen has been confirmed by the Balochistan Human Rights Group as Abdollah Parki, approximately 19 years old, son of Mohammad Bakhsh, married and father of a six-month-old child, resident of Kant village in the jurisdiction of Sib and Suran County.

According to informed sources, Abdollah was arrested by plainclothes agents in front of a repair shop in the city of Mehristan. Reliable sources have reported signs of fractures in the mouth, teeth, and legs, as well as signs of burns on his body.

According to family relatives, after contacting the family, Intelligence forces announced his death. When the family went to the Mehristan Intelligence Administration, they were met with harsh treatment and threats.

As of the time of preparing this report, no official authority has provided any explanation regarding the reason for the arrest, the interrogation process, detention conditions, or the circumstances of this Baloch citizen’s death; the continuation of this silence has increased existing ambiguities and concerns.

It should be noted that in the year 2025 , at least 9 Baloch prisoners lost their lives, 8 of whom died inside prison and one during furlough in hospital. Three cases of death occurred in Iranshahr prison, two inside Zahedan prison and one outside it, and one case each was also reported in the prisons of Shiraz, Chabahar, and Yazd. Of these cases, 6 individuals died due to lack of medical care, while in the other three cases the cause of death remains unknown.
