In recent days, Iran has witnessed a wave of executions of Baloch prisoners, raising serious concerns in the field of human rights. According to reports from the Balochistan Human Rights Group, in less than three days, at least ten Baloch prisoners were executed in various prisons across Iran.

1. Execution of Two Baloch Prisoners in Iranshahr Prison

On the morning of Thursday, April 10, 2025 (21st of Farvardin 1404), two Baloch prisoners, “Ehsan Bamari” and “Yasin Bamari,” were executed in Iranshahr Prison. These two prisoners, who had previously been sentenced to death for “murder,” had been transferred to the prison’s quarantine section in recent days, and after meeting with their families, their executions were carried out. Both of these prisoners were from the towns of Delgan and Iranshahr.

2. Execution of Baloch Prisoners in Khorasan Razavi Prisons

On April 8 and 9, 2025 (19th and 20th of Farvardin 1404), the death sentences of at least eight Baloch prisoners were executed in the prisons of Vakilabad in Mashhad, Shahrud, and Gonabad. These prisoners had been convicted on charges such as murder and drug-related offenses. Notably, in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, two Baloch prisoners named “Amir Ahmad Sanaei (Mazarehi)” and “Younes Kord (Abdullah Naroyi)” were executed. In other prisons, prisoners like “Abd al-Hakim Azim Gorgij,” “Abdulrahman Gorgij,” “Taj Mohammad Kermali,” “Sajad Barahoi,” “Gholamreza Pardakhtheh (Gorgij),” and “Esmaeil Dahmorda” were also executed. These executions took place while some of these prisoners were not allowed a final meeting with their families.

3. Execution of Five Political-Security Prisoners, Including Three Baloch

On Tuesday, April 7, 2025 (19th of Farvardin 1404), five political-security prisoners were executed in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad. Three of these prisoners were Baloch and had been sentenced to death for “Baqi” (rebellion). These executions were carried out without prior notice to the families and without the possibility of a final meeting. These prisoners had been arrested in 2015, and after an initial trial and sentence, their death sentences were confirmed in 2020.

4. Human Rights Situation and International Concerns

These executions take place while Iran remains one of the leading countries in the world for executions. Reports from Amnesty International show that Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq collectively account for 91% of all executions recorded in 2024. In this context, Baloch people, who make up only about 5% of the country’s population, account for at least 10% of those executed.

The 2024 annual report of the Baloch Human Rights Group indicates that at least 111 Baloch prisoners have been executed across different cities in Iran. Zahedan Prison with 27 cases, Birjand Prison with 13 cases, and Yazd Prison with 14 cases, have had the highest number of executions.

This wave of executions not only violates principles of fair trial and human rights but also raises serious concerns about the human rights situation in Iran. The continuation of this process, without regard for international human rights standards and without providing adequate opportunities for the defense of the accused, exacerbates the human rights crisis in Iran.

The names of the ten Baloch prisoners who have been executed are as follows:

1. Ehsan Bamari

2. Yasin Bamari

3. Abdulhakim Azim Gorgij

4. Abdulrahman Gorgij

5. Taj Mohammad Kermali

6. Amir Ahmad Sanaei (Mazarehi)

7. Sajad Barahoi

8. Gholamreza Pardakhtheh (Gorgij)

9. Esmaeil Dahmorda

10. Younes Kord (Abdullah Naroyi)
