According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, early on Sunday, January 26, 2025, two Baloch fuel carriers were severely injured when their vehicle hit a landmine in the village of Siyyad, located in the Mak-e-Sookhteh region of Golshan County. One of them later died from his injuries at the hospital.
The deceased, Mohammad Gamshadzehi, 32 years old, from Jaleh in the center of Golshan County, was married with three children. The identity of the other injured fuel carrier remains unknown at the time of this report.
The vehicle was traveling along a dirt road in Siyyad when it struck a landmine planted by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The explosion seriously injured Mohammad and his companion, who was taken to Razi Hospital in Saravan. Unfortunately, Mohammad succumbed to his injuries.
The lack of warning signs in landmine areas, planted by the IRGC, is in violation of international regulations and remains a key factor in such tragic incidents. The authorities’ neglect of public safety, especially for farmers, locals, and fuel carriers, continues to cause such disasters in border regions.
According to annual reports, from the beginning of 2023 until the end of the year, at least 321 fuel carriers have been killed or injured in various incidents. Of these, 28 were killed and 17 injured in direct shootings by military forces, 194 died, and 58 were wounded in road accidents. Additionally, 8 were killed and 2 wounded in attacks by unknown gunmen, while at least 14 were killed or injured in other incidents, including floods, fuel storage fires, and an unspecified event.
