Execution of Five Prisoners, Including Khodanoor’s uncle , in Birjand Prison

As reported by BHRG on Thursday, October 26, 2023, judicial authorities and prison officials in Birjand carried out the death sentences of five prisoners, including four Baloch citizens, in this prison.

The identities of these prisoners are as follows: “Abdul Basir Rigi (Mohamdani),” 30 years old, son of Abdullah, married, from the village of Dargian in the outskirts of Zahedan; “Mohammad Nabi Shahouzehi ,” 55 years old, son of Kajir, married, father of 9 children, and Khodanoor Lejei uncal, who was one of the martyrs of the Bloody Friday in Zahedan, hailing from the Shirabad area of Zahedan; “Mohammad Mirshah” and “Reza Shahraki,” both from Zabol; and another citizen by the name of “Omid Jouini” from Torbat-e-Jam.

All of these citizens have been charged with drug-related crimes.

According to the report, Abdul Basir was arrested in Birjand in 2019 and has been sentenced to death by the city’s court after approximately two years. He was transferred from the public ward to the quarantine section of the prison yesterday. His mother, who had been waiting outside the prison for an in-person meeting with her son, has not been granted permission for the final visit and meeting.

Mohammad Nabi, who is the brother of Sanubar,Khodanoor mother, was detained in 2020 during an inspection in the village of Sahlabad and has received the death sentence from the Birjand court. He has been transferred to the quarantine section along with other prisoners.
