Molavi Abdulmajid Moradzahi, a distinguished and prominent scholar in the Baloch Sunni community, was suddenly arrested by intelligence forces on February 9, 2023, due to the advisory services he provided to Molavi Abdulhamid. This courageous religious figure, who is in his sixties, endured horrifying physical and psychological torture during six months of detention under extremely harsh and violent conditions in intelligence facilities.

During a conversation that Molavi Moradzahi’s family had with prison authorities, they were informed that Mr. Moradzahi has experienced mental distress and responds with unrelated answers to questions. This indicates an exacerbation of his mental and emotional concerns.

Given that the regime has recently been accusing dissenters of having an “anti-social disease” and demanding psychological certifications, it is possible that Molavi Moradzahi may have been administered medication that worsened his mental condition.

These torturous acts, both physical and psychological, have caused severe damage to his mental and emotional well-being. Many of the inhumane actions he endured during this period are in direct contradiction to the ethical and religious principles of the Baloch Sunni society, resulting in a profound impact on his mental state.

In an attempt to undermine the willpower and dedication Molavi Moradzahi exhibited in serving others, he was subjected to humiliation within the Vakilabad political prison. One of the degrading actions included shaving his beard, which not only insulted him but also offended all Baluchi Sunni individuals.

These actions and acts of disrespect towards Baloch Sunni religious figures are indicative of an unjust and suppressive pattern executed by certain authorities and security forces within the Islamic Republic. These actions have not only generated deep concerns and discomfort within the Baloch Sunni community but are also incongruent with their culture and spirituality.

This matter is not an isolated incident; Baloch Sunni clerics have repeatedly faced similar forms of hostility. Throughout history, they have endured humiliations and suppression that have not only affected specific individuals but have also severely undermined the integrity and motivation of the Baloch Sunni community.

Consequently, the international community is in dire need of more robust responses against human rights violations and encroachments upon religious and human dignity. These actions not only harm the individuals directly subjected to them but also serve to damage the future of humanity and human solidarity.

This issue serves as just one example of the hostile treatment that Baloch religious figures encounter. Over time, Baloch Sunni clerics have consistently faced humiliations and suppression of a similar nature. These actions not only inflict harm on specific individuals but also severely impede the integrity and motivation of the Baloch Sunni community.

Hence, the international community must offer more substantial reactions to human rights infringements and violations against religious and human dignity. Such actions not only inflict damage on individuals under duress but also impact the future of human civilization and solidarity.
