Two Baloch Fuel Porters Injured in Taliban Shooting at Border Crossers in Nimruz Province
According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Thursday, December 18, 2025, Taliban forces in Kang district of Nimruz Province, Afghanistan, opened fire without warning on two Baloch fuel porters near the border for carrying several gallons of fuel. Both individuals were severely injured and taken to hospital by local residents.
The identities of the two Baloch porters, Mohammad Rakhshani and Abdullah Rakhshani, both from Kang district in Nimruz, have been confirmed.
Sources reported that one was shot in the leg and the other in the neck, with one in critical condition. Both remain hospitalized and under treatment. The shooting occurred solely due to carrying four gallons of fuel.
The source highlighted the dire economic situation in the region, noting widespread unemployment and lack of alternative income sources. In Kang district, fuel portering is virtually the only livelihood, forcing many to risk their lives on dangerous border routes.
This incident comes amid increased Taliban pressure and violent actions against Baloch porters in Nimruz in recent months, endangering those who engage in this activity merely to provide for their families.
