Report on Recent Incidents Involving Baloch Fuel Carriers

Over the course of just two days — Saturday and Sunday, November 8–9, 2025 (17–18 Aban 1404) — several deadly incidents and military actions against Baloch fuel carriers occurred across Balochistan and South Khorasan provinces, resulting in multiple deaths and detentions.

The first incident took place on Saturday night, November 8, along the Qaen–Birjand road, where military forces opened fire on a vehicle carrying fuel. The car overturned and caught fire, killing the driver, Mousa Bajizhehi, about 25 years old, from Sarakhs.

That same day, another Baloch fuel carrier, Hojjat Haji-Hosseini (Roudini), was severely beaten and arrested by border guards in the Milak border market of Hirmand County. He was reportedly detained without clear explanation and taken to an unknown location.

On the following morning, Sunday, November 9, three more deadly incidents were reported:

In Karavandar, Khash County, a head-on collision between two fuel-carrying vehicles left two men dead, one identified as Hassan Semalzahi (Shahouzahi), 39 years old and father of eight.

On the Sarbaz–Mehrestan road, near the “Balochi Café” area, a violent crash and fire between two fuel trucks killed at least four people, including a teenage boy.

Meanwhile, in Eslamabad village of Zarabad County, military units raided the area, seizing several fuel tanks and vehicles belonging to local residents — an operation reportedly carried out without prior notice or judicial authorization.

Widespread unemployment and poverty in Sistan and Balochistan have forced many Baloch citizens to turn to fuel charring (locally known as “sookhtbari”) as their only source of income. This hazardous work often leads to fatal road accidents, shootings by security forces, or deaths from vehicle fires.
