Molavi Fazlur Rahman Kohi Released on Leave from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad

According to a report by the Balochistan Human Rights Group on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, Molavi Fazlur Rahman Kohi, the Friday prayer Imam of Pashamag village in Rask County, who was arrested by security forces on October 22, 2023, and transferred to Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, has been granted temporary leave from the prison.
Molavi Fazlur Rahman Kohi was arrested by security forces at a checkpoint on the outskirts of Zahedan on October 22, 2023, while returning from a meeting with Molavi Abdulhamid during a trip to Zahedan. He was subsequently transferred to Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad. In the first week of December 2023, he was sentenced by Mashhad’s Clerical Court to five years of exile in Shahrekord, located in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province.
Previously, he had been arrested in another case in 2019 after criticizing the Islamic Republic of Iran for the crackdown on protesters in Iranian cities, known as the “November 2019 protests” (Aban 98).
