Killing of Two Baloch Fuel Carriers, Including a Teenager, Following Military Forces’ Shooting and Vehicle Overturn on the Jiroft Road
On Thursday, January 1, 2026, military forces on the Jiroft road directly fired at a fuel-carrying vehicle, causing it to veer off the path, overturn, and catch fire. This action resulted in the deaths of two Baloch fuel carriers.
The shooting was carried out without any prior warning and from behind, with bullets hitting the vehicle’s tires, causing the driver to lose control.
The identities of the two victims have been confirmed as Rahman Zarouzei, 16 years old, son of Mehdi, and Davoud Zarouzei, 20 years old, son of Abdulhamid, both residents of Zabol.
The 16-year-old Rahman Zarouzei lost his life at the scene due to the severity of his injuries. Davoud Zarouzei, who was severely injured, was transferred to a hospital in Kerman Province, where he remained hospitalized for five days before ultimately succumbing to his injuries on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
This incident is yet another example of serious human rights violations in Baloch-populated areas, where Baloch fuel carriers, due to structural poverty and lack of suitable employment opportunities, are forced into this high-risk profession and are frequently targeted by direct shooting from military forces. Shooting without warning and without adhering to principles of proportionality and necessity constitutes a clear violation of the right to life as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The Balochistan Human Rights Group strongly condemns this action and calls for an independent, transparent, and impartial investigation into the incident, as well as judicial accountability for those responsible.
