Killing of a Baloch Citizen Following Shooting by Military Forces During Suppression of Protests in Tehran
According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, today Wednesday, 8 Bahman 1404 (equivalent to January 28, 2026), the body of another Baloch citizen who had been shot and killed during the suppression of popular protests in Tehran was buried in his place of residence in Bent city, Nikshahr County.
The identity of this killed Baloch citizen has been confirmed by reliable sources as Hassan Shayesteh, 35 years old, son of Mousa, resident of Bent city, Nikshahr County.
According to sources, Hassan Shayesteh was directly shot in the head and abdomen during the suppression of protests on 18 Dey 1404 (January 8, 2026) in Tehran and died as a result of the severity of his injuries. After his killing, his body was handed over to the family yesterday, 7 Bahman, and was buried this Wednesday afternoon, 8 Bahman, in Bent city.
According to an eyewitness present at the funeral of Hassan Shayesteh, the condition of this Baloch citizen’s body was extremely distressing; his skull was completely empty, with only the scalp skin — stitched from the right ear to the left ear — placed over the cranium. His abdomen had been entirely emptied and filled with cotton, and due to the severity of the injuries, the body was practically impossible to wash or perform ghusl on. The eyewitness suggested that the abdomen had been severely shattered due to bullet impact.
It should be noted that nationwide protests began in early Dey 1404 with widespread citizen participation; the protests initially started in Tehran and quickly spread to many other cities across the country within a short period. Concurrent with the expansion of the protests, numerous reports emerged indicating the killing of several thousand protesters as a result of direct gunfire by military and security forces. In the course of this suppression, the Islamic Republic of Iran imposed a widespread internet shutdown on the evening of 18 Dey, an action that caused information about the situation on the ground, victims, and the scale of violence to leak out of the country and into the free information space only in a very limited, piecemeal, and delayed manner.
