Killing, Injury and Arrest of at Least Three Baloch Citizens Following Shooting by Military Forces in Baft City, Kerman Province
According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on January 27, 2026 (7 Bahman 1404), military forces in Baft city, Kerman Province, opened direct fire without any prior warning or order to stop on a vehicle carrying three Baloch civilians who were traveling from Sistan and Baluchestan to Yazd. This action resulted in the killing of one person and the injury and arrest of at least two other citizens.
The identity of the killed Baloch citizen is Mobin Shahnawazi, 25 years old, son of Samal, resident of Khash.
The identities of the two injured and arrested Baloch citizens are *Elyas Shahnawazi, 27 years old, son of Mohammadgol, and *Aref Shahnawazi, son of Mohammad, both residents of Khash.
According to received information, this shooting took place around 5 a.m. and was carried out by plainclothes security forces without any warning or legal order to stop. During the shooting, Mobin Shahnawazi was killed on the spot due to bullet wounds, and Elyas Shahnawazi and Aref Shahnawazi were arrested after being injured.
Despite repeated follow-ups by the family and relatives, more than twenty-four hours have passed and the body of Mobin Shahnawazi has still not been handed over to the family, and the legal and medical status of the two injured and detained citizens remains completely unclear.
As of the time of writing this report, no official or clear explanation has been provided regarding the reason for shooting at this vehicle, the justification for targeting the passengers, or the legal basis for the arrest of the two injured citizens.
