Identification of Two Baloch Citizens Killed and One Injured and Arrested During Clashes in Zahedan
According to Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Friday, September 18, 2026, the identities of two Baloch citizens who were killed during an armed confrontation with military forces in Zahedan, as well as another citizen who was injured and subsequently arrested during the incident, were verified by the group.
The two citizens killed were identified as Zakaria Shahbakh, son of Gholam-Nabi, and Mehrallah Shahbakh, son of Bijar, both from the Golgah area of Zahedan. The injured and arrested citizen was identified as Omid Shahbakh, son of Aziz, from Zahedan.
According to sources cited by Balochistan Human Rights Group, Zakaria and Mehrallah were killed during an armed confrontation with military forces in the vicinity of University Street in Zahedan. Omid was injured during the confrontation and was subsequently arrested by military forces.
According to the report, the confrontation began at approximately 12:30 a.m. in Zahedan between military forces and the occupants of a Peugeot 405 and continued for nearly two hours. During the incident, there was an exchange of gunfire, and several ambulances were dispatched to the area.
The state-affiliated Fars News Agency also claimed that forces from the Quds Base of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Ground Forces encountered a suspicious passenger vehicle while conducting patrols in the University Street area of Zahedan. According to the agency, an armed confrontation subsequently took place between the military forces and the occupants of the vehicle. The media outlet reported that two people were killed and one occupant was arrested.
According to documentation compiled in 2025, direct shootings, raids on homes, landmine explosions, and physical assaults by military and security forces affected at least 173 people in Balochistan. Of these, 107 people were killed and 66 were injured. Among those killed were three women and one child, while 16 women and four children were among those injured.
