Execution of Two Baloch Prisoners in Birjand and Arak Prisons Without Family Notification
According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 14 and 15, 2025, the death sentences of at least two Baloch prisoners, previously convicted on drug-related charges, were secretly carried out in Birjand and Arak prisons without informing their families. The identities of the two prisoners are Qasem Rahmatzehi, approximately 49 years old, married with seven children, and Mohammad Rafiq Galehbachcheh, 45 years old, son of Amir, married with two children, both from Zahedan.
According to the report, Qasem Rahmatzehi was arrested about two years ago in Birjand, and Mohammad Rafiq Galehbachcheh was arrested three years ago in Arak on drug-related charges, both sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court. Their executions were carried out without notifying their families or allowing a final visit.
It is worth noting that in 2024, at least 111 Baloch prisoners were executed in 23 different cities across Iran for various charges. Of these, 83 were executed for “drug-related” charges, 25 for “murder,” and the charges for three cases remain unspecified.
