At dawn on Sunday, December 1, 2024, Khodanour Gorgij, a 31-year-old Baloch prisoner from Zabol, was executed in Zahedan Central Prison. He was arrested in 2019 on charges of murder and sentenced to death. Earlier, the execution was delayed for two months to allow for the payment of blood money, but due to non-payment, the sentence was carried out.
In 2023, at least 184 Baloch prisoners were executed across various cities in Iran, with Zahedan and Birjand prisons reporting the highest numbers of executions.
