Balochistan Human Rights Grop Statement on October 10 – World Day Against the Death Penalty
On the occasion of the World Day Against the Death Penalty (Balochistan Human Rights Grop) expresses its deep concern over the continued and increasing use of executions against Baloch citizens across Iran.
According to documentation collected by the organization, at least 106 Baloch prisoners have been executed in various prisons across Iran between January and the end of September 2025.
This figure reflects a deeply alarming trend of systematic and targeted executions against the Baloch nation throughout Iran.
According to the organization’s investigations, the majority of these executions were carried out without fair trials, without access to independent legal counsel, and under conditions lacking judicial transparency.
In many cases, families of the victims were not informed about the exact date of execution, and in numerous instances, the bodies of those executed were not returned to their families.
The BHRG emphasizes that the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to use the death penalty as a political tool to instill fear and suppress the Baloch nation.
These executions not only violate the fundamental right to life but also serve as a clear attempt to silence voices of dissent and demands for justice among the Baloch people.
The impact of these executions on families and the wider Baloch community is profound and devastating. Families are left in poverty, grief, and psychological distress.
Children grow up without parents, women are forced to bear the heavy burden of livelihood and social stigma, and society as a whole is trapped in a cycle of fear, insecurity, and perpetual mourning.
The Balochistan Human Rights Grop once again calls on international bodies, including the United Nations Special Rapporteurs and all human rights defenders, to take urgent action to stop the wave of extrajudicial and unfair executions in Iran, particularly against the Baloch nation.
The organization urges the Iranian authorities to comply with their international human rights obligations and ensure fair and transparent judicial processes.
Execution is not justice — it is a tool to silence those who seek it.
