Baloch Citizen Killed in Shooting by Iranian Military Forces in Khash; Companion Arrested

According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Friday, July 31, 2026, a Baloch citizen was killed after Iranian military forces opened fire on a vehicle in Khash County, while another occupant of the vehicle was arrested and taken to an undisclosed location.

The victim has been identified as Hossein Khashi Kamalabadi, 23, son of Habibollah and a resident of Khash County. The identity of the second individual, who was arrested during the incident, remains unknown at the time of publication.

According to local sources, military forces opened fire on the vehicle while it was traveling inside the city of Khash without issuing any prior warning. Hossein was struck in the head by a bullet and died at the scene.

Sources further reported that military forces violently handcuffed and arrested the other occupant of the vehicle before taking him away to an undisclosed location. The forces also removed Hossein’s body from the scene.

As of the time of publication, Iranian security authorities have not issued any official statement regarding the shooting or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to documentation compiled by the Balochistan Human Rights Group, throughout 2025, at least 173 people in Balochistan were affected by direct shootings, house raids, landmine explosions, and physical assaults carried out by Iranian military and security forces. These incidents resulted in 107 deaths and 66 injuries. Among those killed were three women and one child, while the injured included 16 women and four children.
