A wide-scale raid by military forces on neighborhoods in the city of Khash and the arrest of dozens of stateless Baloch citizens along with Afghan migrants
According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Saturday, December 6, 2025, dozens of military and plainclothes forces, using multiple vehicles, raided various villages and neighborhoods, including Valiabad in Khash County, and carried out a mass arrest of stateless Baloch citizens along with a large number of Afghan migrants. The detainees were transferred to a foreign nationals’ camp without any on-site assessment or consideration of their family situations, to be deported to Afghanistan—an action that has increased concern among Baloch families without identity documents and heightened the sense of insecurity within the community.
Among the detainees, whose number has been estimated at around two hundred by sources from the Balochistan Human Rights Group, there were a significant number of stateless Baloch citizens, though no precise information regarding their identities or exact numbers has been obtained so far.
Sources from the Balochistan Human Rights Group state that some of the detained individuals are ethnically Baloch and originally from Balochistan; however, due to lacking identity documents, they were treated in the same manner as Afghan migrants and faced deportation without undergoing legal procedures.
The longstanding crisis of lacking identity documents has created serious difficulties for a large segment of the population in Sistan and Balochistan. Many stateless Baloch citizens have repeatedly been detained by military forces and deported as foreign nationals. The continuation of such non-expert, arbitrary actions not only destabilizes the lives of native families but also generates severe social consequences and further exposes the lack of responsibility among relevant institutions in addressing this structural problem—a problem that deepens with each such raid and places increasing pressure on the social life and psychological security of the region’s residents.
