According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the IRGC intelligence and police forces launched a large-scale assault on the village of Gunch in the Karvandar district of Khash at 5 a.m., using dozens of military vehicles, resulting in a bloody tragedy against Baloch civilian women. The operation, which continued until 10 a.m., took place despite reliable information indicating that the judicial warrant for the operation was issued at 9:30 a.m. that day—four hours after the attack began—during an emergency meeting at the Khash prosecutor’s office.

According to informed sources at the prosecutor’s office, the meeting was attended by Prosecutor Javad Kikha, Assistant Prosecutor Safarzahi (Branch 2), and Investigator Bakhtiari, where the official permit to enter Gunch was issued. However, at the time of the attack, no legal coordination had been made with the prosecutor’s office, and the military forces acted arbitrarily without a warrant, raiding people’s homes.

During the operation, the attacking forces opened fire on homes without prior warning. Following protests by the village women, these unarmed women became the direct targets of this unrestrained violence. As a result of the attack, a 40-year-old woman named Khan Bibi Bameri was killed, and 11 other women were severely injured. Two of them, Lali Bameri and Isra Bameri, are in critical condition in the intensive care unit of Khash Hospital. Additionally, Rihaneh Bameri, who was pregnant, lost her fetus due to beatings and pellet injuries.

This crime once again exposes the unjust and dependent nature of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s judicial system in Balochistan. The institution tasked with upholding the law and delivering justice effectively lacks any will or independence in the face of extralegal actions by military and security forces. Prosecutors, investigators, and assistant prosecutors are not only unable to prevent such actions but, in many cases, merely play the role of justifying suppression and violence after the fact. In this system, the law is not a tool for justice but a cover to legitimize oppression—a reality that the people of Balochistan have experienced firsthand for years.
