Reportedly on Thursday, January 18, 2024, a Baloch citizen without identification, Najib Gorgij, aged 20 and a resident of Jarekeh village in the Zahak region, lost his life due to gunfire by border outpost forces.

According to the report, Najib was returning home from the border when the Jarekeh outpost forces shot him without warning or prior notice.

Local residents assert that in this village and neighboring areas, numerous Baloch citizens face deprivation of their basic rights due to the lack of identification. Children, particularly, are unable to pursue education, leading to extremely challenging lives.

The annual report from the Balochistan Human Rights Group in 2023 reveals that direct shootings by military forces have resulted in the death or injury of at least 120 Baloch citizens. Among these cases, 80 individuals lost their lives, including 9 children and 3 women, while 40 others sustained injuries. This tragic incident underscores the ongoing human rights challenges faced by the Baloch people in the region.
