On Sunday, November 12, 2023, ‘Farshid Hassan Zahi’ and ‘Jamshid Hassan Zahi,’ two Baloch citizens detained during the ‘Revolution for woman ,Life, Freedom, and Protests’ by security forces in Zahedan, were sentenced to execution and 25 years in prison respectively, following a dubious online court session without the presence of legal representation.
In this ambiguous trial, 25-year-old ‘Farshid Hassan Zahi,’ son of Hanif, a laborer in the building materials trade from the Siadak village in Zahedan, was sentenced to execution. Meanwhile, ‘Jamshid Hassan Zahi,’ 29 years old, son of Abdulghani, married with two young children, a resident of Cheshme Ziarat village in Zahedan, working as a shopkeeper at the crossroads of Polki village, was sentenced to 25 years in prison. He was also responsible for his family, including his mother, sister, and brothers.
Reportedly, these two citizens were sentenced in an online session without their legal representatives present at the First Criminal Branch in Zahedan during the second week of November.
These detainees, subjected to torture and coerced confessions at the Zahedan Intelligence Detention Center, are currently in solitary confinement under harsh conditions at Cell 9 of Zahedan Central Prison, deprived of phone access and visitation rights.
It should be noted that Farshid, along with Jamshid, Omid, Ismail, and Behzad, all from the Hassan Zahi family, all laborers and having familial ties, were arrested on December 24, 2022, on charges of attacking the Cheshme Ziarat outpost forces in Zahedan, an incident that occurred on November 21, 2022, by unidentified armed individuals.
On December 15, 2022, three individuals named Behzad, Omid, and Ismail Hassan Zahi were released from Zahedan Prison.
Previously, Mrs. ‘Darya Safaei,’ a Belgian Parliament representative, and Mrs. ‘Golstan Yuksel,’ a German Parliament representative, had undertaken political sponsorship for Farshid and Jamshid Hassan Zahi and had repeatedly advocated for the release of these citizens.”
