Arrest of a Baloch Worker in Zahedan Without Judicial Warrant and His Ongoing Uncertainty After Over Four Months
According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, a Baloch worker who was arrested in mid-June 2024 at his workplace in a building on Shora Street in the Zibashahr area of Zahedan by plainclothes forces affiliated with the Intelligence Department has been transferred from a detention center to Zahedan Central Prison after several months. He remains in a state of uncertainty after more than four and a half months. His family and relatives are concerned about the progress of his case and his legal status, demanding his release.
The identity of this Baloch citizen has been confirmed as Mahmoud Rahmatzahi, approximately 27 years old, son of Abdullah, and a resident of Zahedan. BHRG sources reported that he was working as a laborer and plasterer in construction before his arrest and was detained without a judicial warrant at a construction site. According to sources, the charge attributed to him is “buying and selling weapons,” which he has repeatedly denied, and the security authorities have provided no evidence or documentation to support this accusation.
It is worth noting that, more than four months after his arrest, Mahmoud Rahmatzahi’s family remains concerned about his situation and has warned against illegal case fabrication against him.
