The prisoner, suffering from kidney disease for a long time, received no serious treatment despite his deteriorating health condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deceased was identified as Yousuf Mahmoudzehi, son of Gholam Mohammad, from Pigel village in Khash County. He had been detained in Iranshahr prison for the past eight years on charges related to drug offenses. According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, prison authorities neglected his critical condition and prevented treatment outside the prison, leading to kidney failure. He was only transferred to a hospital for dialysis in the final stages of his illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Yousuf was transferred from prison to Iranshahr hospital for dialysis but succumbed to his severe condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on 2024 reports, at least six Baloch prisoners and detainees died in the prisons of Zahedan and Zabol, with one additional death in the detention center of the Zahedan Anti-Narcotics Department. Five of these deaths in Zahedan and Zabol prisons were due to medical negligence and inadequate or untimely care by prison authorities, with three cases in Zahedan prison and two in Zabol prison. One individual was killed due to severe torture by officers in the Zahedan Anti-Narcotics Department detention center.
