The Balochistan Human Rights Group reports that at least 21 Baloch citizens were executed across seven different prisons in Iran within a single week\u2014from Tuesday, April 8 to Tuesday, April 15, 2025. These mass executions were carried out without the minimum standards of fair trial, reflecting a grave and systematic violation of fundamental human rights, particularly the right to life and the right to due process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The executions took place in the prisons of Mashhad (Vakilabad), Zahedan, Gonabad, Shahroud, Kerman, Bandar Abbas, and Iranshahr. The victims were overwhelmingly from marginalized communities in Balochistan and were often the sole providers for large, economically vulnerable families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Available information indicates that the majority of those executed were denied access to independent legal counsel and were tried behind closed doors, in opaque judicial proceedings. In several cases, the families of those executed were not informed of the scheduled executions until after they had taken place, further compounding the trauma and injustice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This surge of executions\u2014disproportionately targeting Baloch citizens\u2014does not reflect the pursuit of justice. Rather, it constitutes a mechanism of fear, repression, and authoritarian control over a region long subjected to poverty, discrimination, and exclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Balochistan Human Rights Group strongly condemns these executions and calls for their immediate halt. We demand independent investigations into the issuance and implementation of these death sentences, and accountability for those responsible for violating the basic rights of Baloch citizens. We also urge international human rights organizations, United Nations bodies, and global civil society to respond urgently and firmly to this disturbing wave of state violence in Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are not acts of justice. These are crimes against humanity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
