The killing of a Baloch citizen along with twelve others, including one woman, by military forces during protests in Meybod, Yazd
According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Friday, 19 Dey 1404 (January 9, 2026), during nationwide protests in the city of Meybod in Yazd Province, Islamic Republic of Iran security forces opened fire with live ammunition on a gathering of protesting citizens, killing at least 13 protesters. Among those killed were one Baloch citizen and one woman.
The identity of this Baloch citizen has been reported as Jalil Doostyar Barahui, 22 years old, son of Ebrahim, from Zahedan.
According to the report, he had traveled to Meybod for work as a laborer and was killed by a live bullet wound to the chest during the protests. His body was transferred to Zahedan, where it was buried today, 25 Dey (January 15, 2026), following a funeral procession at Makki Mosque. No information has yet been released regarding the identities of the other victims killed in these protests.
