According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on July 2, 2025, Amer Goharhamzehi, a former Baloch political prisoner, was arrested by the IRGC intelligence forces in Rask County and taken to an unknown location. He had visited a relevant center in Rask to follow up on the status of his confiscated vehicle when he was detained.

Amer Goharhamzehi was previously arrested on January 4, 2015, and after serving four and a half years in prison, he was released on heavy bail. On July 2, 2025, he was pursuing the status of the same confiscated vehicle, which is reportedly now being used personally by some officials, when he was rearrested.

His vehicle has been in the custody of the IRGC since 2013, following a security raid in Nasirabad. During that raid, several Baloch youths, including Amer Goharhamzehi, Musayb Vatan-Khah, and Abubakr Mollazehi, were arrested, and multiple vehicles were seized by the IRGC. Despite over a decade passing, these vehicles have not been returned to their owners.

The actions of the security forces in rearresting this citizen and unlawfully retaining his personal property violate Article 32 of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Constitution, which prohibits unlawful detention, and Article 22, which states that an individual’s dignity, life, property, rights, housing, and occupation are inviolable except by law. Additionally, retaining the vehicle without a clear judicial order constitutes a clear violation of property rights and fair trial principles.

According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on March 24, 2025, at approximately 5:30 PM, Sammi Deen Baloch was arrested by Karachi police during a peaceful protest against human rights violations and the detention of Baloch activists. Reliable reports indicate that she is currently being held at the Women’s Police Station on Shahrah-e-Faisal, Karachi.

Sammi Deen Baloch is a prominent human rights defender who has actively spoken out against the human rights abuses faced by the Baloch people, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests, and custodial torture.

Despite facing serious threats against herself and her family, she has continued her work in the extremely hostile environment of Balochistan, shedding light on human rights violations and providing support to victims and their families. Her arrest, along with that of other Baloch human rights defenders, has further raised concerns about the suppression of civil liberties and the increasing crackdown on human rights activists.

According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Friday, June 14, 2024, Abdulrauf Barani, a former political prisoner, was arrested along with seven other citizens in Iranshahr by military forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to the Iranshahr Intelligence Detention Center. Abdulrauf, 34 years old, married with two children, is from the village of Nourabad in Sarbaz. He and seven others had gone to Iranshahr for personal business when they were detained. On Sunday, June 16, 2024, IRGC intelligence forces transferred Abdulrauf to the Zahedan Intelligence Detention Center. Four of his companions have been released, while three remain in detention. Authorities have not provided a clear reason for the arrest and transfer to Zahedan despite the family’s inquiries. Abdulrauf was previously arrested in 2020 on political charges and was released a few months later. The current charges against these individuals are still unknown.

In Iran, the families of human rights activists in Baouchistan face extremely challenging conditions. These activists, due to their efforts to expose human rights violations and seek justice in the regions of Balochistan and other areas of Iran, especially among ethnic minorities, are subjected to persecution and threats by the government of the Islamic Republic.
The families of these activists, as individuals who bring hidden truths and legal violations to light, become the primary targets of the repressive policies of the government. They may face arbitrary interrogations, arbitrary arrests, and even physical persecution.

In the Balochistan region of Iran, human rights violations are widespread, and the families of human rights activists, as well as political and civil activists, sometimes find themselves confronted with hostage-taking by the Islamic Republic of Iran. They are often detained for extended periods until the demands of the Iranian government, which include the arrest and execution of political and civil activists, are met.The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has always employed this policy of creating fear and terror among its citizens, particularly political and civil activists, as a constant element in its playbook
