Baloch Citizen Dies Two Days After Being Shot by Iranian Border Guards in Saravan

According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, a Baloch man who was critically wounded after being shot by Iranian Border Guard forces has died after two days in intensive care at Saravan Hospital.

The victim, identified as Nader Gamshadzahi, son of Khodabakhsh and a resident of Jihadabad village in Saravan County, succumbed to his injuries on the evening of Friday, July 31, 2026.

According to local sources, Gamshadzahi was shot by Border Guard forces on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, near the border area of Bacheh-Rahi Kalagan in Golshan County (Jalq). He was reportedly transferred to Saravan Hospital by the same forces in critical condition and admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), where he remained hospitalized until his death.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Iranian military and security authorities have not issued any statement explaining the reasons for the use of live ammunition, the circumstances of the incident, or the legal basis for opening fire on the victim.

According to documentation compiled by the Balochistan Human Rights Group, throughout 2025, at least 173 people in Balochistan were affected by direct shootings, house raids, landmine explosions, and physical assaults carried out by Iranian military and security forces. These incidents resulted in 107 deaths and 66 injuries. Among those killed were three women and one child, while the injured included 16 women and four children.
