Military and Security Forces Raid Chah Ahmad Village in Taftan; At Least 8 Baloch Citizens Violently Arrested
Balochistan Human Rights Group / Exclusive Report: Early this morning, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, dozens of military and security forces mounted on military and unmarked vehicles raided the village of Chah Ahmad, located in the Nazil district of Taftan County. During the raid, at least eight Baloch citizens were violently assaulted inside their homes, arrested without judicial warrants, and transferred to an undisclosed location.
Violent Intrusion and Arrests in Front of Family Members
According to received reports, security forces stormed the victims’ homes around 4:00 AM, severely beating them in front of their family members, including women and children. All those detained are local workers and tradesmen who work in occupations such as mechanics and welding in the Chah Ahmad three-way intersection area.
The arrests were carried out without presenting any judicial warrants or stating any charges.
Identified Detainees
The identities of seven of the detainees have been confirmed as follows:
- Hamid Shahbakhsh (Ghanbarzehi) — Son of Showkat
- Kamran Shahbakhsh (Ghanbarzehi) — Son of Showkat
- Habib Shahbakhsh (Ghanbarzehi) — Son of Showkat
- Saeed Shahbakhsh (Ghanbarzehi) — Son of Musa
- Akbar Shahbakhsh (Ghanbarzehi) — Son of Musa
- Naser Shahbakhsh (Ghanbarzehi) — Son of Musa
- Mohammad Shahbakhsh (Ghanbarzehi) — Son of Nabi
Note: The eighth detainee is another Baloch citizen, the son of Naser Ghanbarzehi, whose full identity is still being verified.
Continued Lack of Information and Family Concerns
Many hours after the arrest, the families of these citizens remain completely unaware of their whereabouts, physical condition, or potential charges. Repeated inquiries and visits by relatives to security and judicial institutions have yielded no results so far.
Background of the Operation and History of Pressure
This raid follows a prior human rights report from July 8, 2026, which revealed a security meeting held at the IRGC Intelligence building in Zahedan to plan a military operation in the Nazil (Taftan) and Nosratabad (Zahedan) sectors—including the deployment of reinforcement troops from the Zabol IRGC Intelligence unit.
This operation occurs after a previous incident on March 15, 2026, when Nematullah Shahbakhsh (Ghanbarzehi)—brother of Saeed, Akbar, and Naser—was shot and killed during a similar security raid on the same village. While state media leveled security allegations against him at the time, his family strongly rejected those claims, stating he had no affiliation with armed groups.
