Killing of a Baloch Citizen Following Shooting by Military Forces During Nationwide Protests in Bandar Abbas
According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, today Thursday, 9 Bahman 1404 (equivalent to January 29, 2026), a Baloch citizen from Anbarabad was shot in the back of the head by military forces during nationwide protests on the evening of Thursday, 18 Dey 1404, in the city of Bandar Abbas, and died as a result.
The identity of this Baloch citizen has been confirmed by reliable sources as Ehsan Toofan, 40 years old, (from the Chatri tribe), son of Hassan, father of a three-year-old daughter, originally from Anbarabad and resident of Bandar Abbas.
According to sources, Ehsan was employed at Tipax company in Bandar Abbas. During the nationwide protests, in front of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) building, he was directly shot in the back of the head with a Winchester bullet by military forces and died instantly.
Sources added: Ehsan’s family managed to collect his body from the coroner’s office on Sunday, 21 Dey, and held the funeral and burial ceremony with public attendance one day later, on 22 Dey, in the city of Anbarabad.
It should be noted that nationwide protests began in early Desamber 2025 with widespread citizen participation, initially starting in Tehran and quickly spreading to many other cities across the country within a short period. Concurrent with the expansion of the protests, numerous reports emerged indicating the killing of more than 36,500 protesters as a result of direct gunfire by military and security forces. In the course of this suppression, the Islamic Republic imposed a widespread internet shutdown on the evening of 18 Dey, an action that caused information about the situation on the ground, victims, and the scale of violence to leak out into the free information space only in a very limited, piecemeal, and delayed manner.
