Plainclothes Forces Open Fire on Civilians in Sangan Village, Dashtiari; Arbitrary Arrest and Injuries Reported

On Thursday, January 1, 2026 , plainclothes forces raided Sangan village in Dashtiari County without presenting any judicial warrant and opened fire on civilians. As a result, at least one civilian was injured and another was arbitrarily arrested.

Reports indicate that approximately eight vehicles belonging to the plainclothes forces entered the village. When residents demanded to see a legal warrant, the forces reportedly stated that they had none. Attempts to arrest a local resident were met with resistance from villagers, leading to direct clashes between civilians and the forces.

Witnesses stated that during the confrontation, the plainclothes forces—positioned inside their vehicles—fired shots toward civilians. In response, some residents threw stones at one of the vehicles, shattering its windows. Local sources describe the situation in the village as highly tense and insecure following the incident.

Furthermore, the plainclothes forces reportedly threatened residents, warning that mobile phone signals and internet access in the village would be cut off if photos or videos of the raid were published. These threats have intensified fear among residents and constitute a serious violation of the right to freedom of expression and access to information.

This incident represents another example of ongoing human rights violations in Iran’s Balochestan province, including the use of live fire against civilians, arbitrary arrests, intimidation, and the deliberate creation of an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.
