Enforced Disappearance of Six Sailors After Departure from Konarak Port; More Than Seven Months of Silence
The Balochistan Human Rights Group expresses deep concern over the disappearance of six sailors following the departure of a fishing vessel from Konarak Port to the Balochistan Sea. More than seven months have passed, yet no clear or reliable information has been provided regarding their fate or whereabouts.
According to received information, on 2 May 2025, a fishing boat carrying six crew members departed from Konarak Port for fishing activities in the Balochistan Sea. Since that date, the vessel and all its occupants have gone missing.
The identities of the missing individuals have been confirmed as follows:
- Captain Beig Mohammad Nouhani, known as “Beigo,” son of Abubakr
- Zubair Baloch, son of Shirmohammad
- Kambar Hoot, son of Aziz
(All three are residents of Dampag village, Bahookalat District, Dashtyari County)
Additionally:
- Mohammad Gol and another individual of unknown identity, both Afghan nationals
- A Pakistani national identified as Iftikhar
According to informed sources, in his last contact, Captain Beigo reported that the vessel had suffered a serious حادثه, sustained severe damage, and was sinking. He relayed this emergency situation to another fishing boat located approximately two hours away. However, when that vessel arrived at the reported location, despite rough sea conditions, no trace of the damaged boat or its crew was found.
Captain Beigo also stated during the call that an unidentified naval warship was moving near the incident area and that they had sent an emergency distress signal (S.O.S) to it. Following this communication, all contact with the fishing vessel was lost, and no further information about the fate of the six sailors has emerged.
The Balochistan Human Rights Group emphasizes that the continued lack of information regarding the fate and whereabouts of these individuals constitutes a case of enforced disappearance. The responsibility to clarify their status lies with the relevant authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The failure to conduct transparent, independent, and effective investigations has significantly heightened the distress of the families and public concern.
The families of the missing sailors, deeply worried yet still hopeful for their loved ones’ safety, have called on responsible authorities, naval forces, local fishermen, and relevant international organizations to share any information they may have regarding the fate or possible detention location of these individuals.
The Balochistan Human Rights Group calls for immediate accountability, independent investigations, and the prompt disclosure of the truth concerning this case.
