Widespread Home Demolitions and Violence Against Baloch Citizens in Zahedan

According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on 15 November 2025, military forces and municipal agents carried out a large-scale raid on the Kashavarz area and Velayat 42 and 44 streets in Zahedan, demolishing at least ten homes belonging to Baloch citizens without presenting any judicial order. This action has caused widespread shock, concern, and confusion among the resident families.

Military forces entered the area with multiple vehicles accompanied by municipal bulldozers, and the demolitions have continued. Some families were unable to remove their essential belongings, and their attempts to object were met with violent treatment by the forces.

During the operation, a Baloch citizen who tried to prevent the demolition of his home was severely beaten by military personnel and lost consciousness. Local residents gathered around him to stop further violence, but no information has yet been released regarding his condition or identity.

Based on available images and documentation, the forces carried out the demolitions with a high level of force, destroying the houses one after another. The lack of a court order and the manner in which the operation was conducted have triggered serious concern and protests among the residents, while the demolitions continue.

According to the annual report of the Baluchistan Human Rights Group, in 2024 military and governmental bodies carried out at least 36 cases of demolishing Baloch citizens’ homes and Sunni places of worship in Sistan and Baluchistan Province. The cities of Zahedan and Chabahar each recorded 17 demolitions. Additionally, one case of arson targeting a home in Delgan and one case of demolishing a Sunni mosque in Bam were documented.
