Fuel Carrier Injured After Military Shooting in Rask County
According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Friday, October 10, 2025, gunfire by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces at a fuel carrier vehicle on a dirt road inside the Sarbaz River bed in the Rask County area resulted in the injury of the vehicle’s driver.
The injured fuel carrier has been identified as Basir Barshan, 17 years old, son of Mohammad Sediq, and a resident of the village of Jangal, a district of Rask County.
Sources stated that Basir was targeted by military forces while his vehicle and the fuel containers inside it were empty. He was reportedly returning home when soldiers opened fire, hitting him in the lower back.
The military forces, stationed on the asphalt road connecting Rask and Sarbaz, fired toward the fuel carrier driving along the dirt path inside the Sarbaz River bed. One of the bullets struck the driver, seriously injuring him.
According to sources, after the shooting, local residents transported the injured man to the Velayat Hospital in the city of Rask, while the military forces fled the scene.
The direct firing by military forces on fuel carriers traveling through the dirt and river routes of Balochistan—where many locals depend on this work for their livelihood—once again highlights the authorities’ neglect of people’s economic conditions and the continued security-driven approach to the lives of local residents.
It is noteworthy that, based on collected reports, from the beginning of 2024 to the end of that year, at least 479 fuel carriers were killed or injured due to road accidents, shootings by military forces, attacks by unidentified armed individuals, landmine explosions, fires, and drownings. Among them, 253 lost their lives and 226 were injured.
