According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, a 16-year-old detained Baloch child named “Saleh Bahramzehi” was released from Zahedan Central Prison after 42 days on a bail of 1.5 billion tomans.

Saleh Bahramzehi had been violently arrested on Wednesday, May 15, in the village of Nasirabad, Sarbaz County, by security forces from Rask County without a judicial warrant.

The 16-year-old Saleh Bahramzehi, son of Molavi Habib-ur-Rehman and a resident of Nasirabad village in Sarbaz County, was playing with his peers in the village when plainclothes forces arrested him without presenting a judicial order or informing him of the charges. They blindfolded him, forced him into the trunk of their vehicle, and took him to Rask.

It is worth noting that on June 2, Saleh was allowed only a brief three-minute phone call with his mother, during which he was merely permitted to exchange greetings and did not mention any charges against him. The day after his arrest, he was transferred from the security detention center to Zahedan Central Prison.

Earlier, on May 23, Amnesty International had expressed concern over the enforced disappearance of Saleh Bahramzehi following his arrest by security forces in Sarbaz County. In a statement, the organization called on Iranian authorities to immediately clarify the teenager’s status and release him. It also noted that after initially admitting his arrest, Iranian officials refused to provide any information about his fate or whereabouts to his family.

It should also be mentioned that Saleh’s older brother, “Qasim Bahramzehi,”was killed on November 9, 2023, during clashes with the “Martyrs of Security” military convoy in Rask County. Jaish al-Adl later claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that its forces had targeted the convoy, resulting in several casualties. Additionally, Saleh’s uncle, “Ayoub Bahramzehi,”was among 16 Baloch prisoners executed in 2013 on charges of “cooperating with anti-government groups” under the order of then-prosecutor of Zahedan, Mohammad Marzieh in what was described as a retaliatory execution.
