According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, in the second week of Esfand 1403 (early March 2024) and the first days of Ramadan, a Baloch citizen was arrested by plainclothes forces in Rask County near the Paroud crossroads. Despite repeated follow-ups by his family, there is still no information about his condition or exact whereabouts.
The identity of this young citizen has been confirmed by BHRG as Abdulwahid Zardkohi, approximately 23 years old, son of Amanullah and a resident of Bandeman village in the Sarkur rural district of Saravan County.
Sources say Abdulwahid was involved in fuel transporter,(soukhtbari) and had no political activities. While he was moving near the Paroud village crossroads, security forces arrested him without presenting any judicial order or explanation and directly transferred him to Zahedan.
Sources add that after follow-ups by his family, it was revealed that about a month after his arrest, he was transferred from the detention center to Zahedan Central Prison. However, he remains deprived of any contact or visitation rights.
The family of this Baloch citizen, who has also been denied legal representation, has approached security and judicial authorities in Zahedan, demanding clarification on his status. However, none of the responsible officials or institutions have provided a clear response regarding his health condition or the exact charges against him. They have only vaguely cited “security issues” and “activity in cyberspace” as reasons for his arrest.
Sources also stated that a few years ago, Abdulwahid was involved in an accident while working as an assistant in fuel transporter vehicles, resulting in the loss of one of his legs. His physical condition is not stable, and the lack of information about his situation has caused severe distress for his family.
At the time of reporting, the exact charges against him remain unknown.
