According to received reports, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, Saleh Bahramzehi, a 16-year-old Baloch teenager detained by IRGC Intelligence forces in Rask County, was transferred to the Juvenile Correction and Rehabilitation Center in Zahedan Central Prison after 21 days in custody.

Saleh Bahramzehi, the son of Molavi Habib-ur-Rehman, is from the village of Nasirabad in Sarbaz County.

Reports indicate that after 20 days of no contact, the teenager was only allowed a brief phone call (about three minutes) with his mother, during which he was not permitted to discuss the charges against him or the reasons for his arrest.

Previously released information stated that IRGC Intelligence forces claimed they had been monitoring the teenager for about a month and that he had been transferred to Zahedan. However, after follow-ups by local figures, security officials later stated that he was still being held at an IRGC detention center in Rask.

According to verified accounts, Saleh Bahramzehi was violently arrested on Wednesday, May 14, 2024, while playing with friends—without a judicial warrant or prior notice to his family—and taken to an undisclosed location. Witnesses reported that security forces blindfolded him and placed him in the trunk of a vehicle.

After his arrest, he was transferred to Rask. Despite repeated inquiries by his family and local elders, security officials only stated that he would remain in custody “until Saturday, May 17.” However, he was not released as promised and remained detained.

Saleh Bahramzehi comes from a family that has previously faced security crackdowns. His older brother, Qassem Bahramzehi, was killed by security forces in Rask in November 2023. His body was returned to the family after a week of follow-ups, on the condition of media silence. Additionally, his uncle, Ayoub Bahramzehi, was among 16 Baloch prisoners executed in 2013 under the order of then-Zahedan prosecutor Mohammad Marzieh, in what was seen as a retaliatory measure.

The violent arrest of this Baloch minor constitutes a clear violation of fundamental human rights principles, including Article 9 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (right to liberty and security of person), Article 37 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (prohibition of unlawful detention and inhumane treatment of children), and international bans on torture and degrading treatment—all of which the Iranian government has committed to uphold.

This case has drawn reactions from Amnesty International, which issued a statement expressing concern over Saleh’s condition and demanding his immediate release.
