According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, at dawn on Monday,May 26, 2025 , the death sentence of a Baloch prisoner convicted of “murder” was carried out. The prisoner had previously been returned from quarantine to the general ward of Zahedan Central Prison after a one-month reprieve and was transferred back to solitary confinement on May 25 for execution.  

The executed Baloch prisoner was identified as Zabihullah Sarani a 29-year-old married man with two children, son of Musa, and a resident of Adimi, a town in Nimruz County.  

According to the report, Zabihullah was arrested on March 26, 2021, following a group altercation on charges of “murder” in Zabol. After being transferred to Taqzi Prison in Zabol, he was sentenced to death (qisas) December 2024 and moved to Zahedan Central Prison.  

On April 10, 2025, he was transferred to quarantine for execution, and his family was summoned for a final visit. However, the next day, he was returned to the general ward with a one-month reprieve to seek reconciliation with the victim’s family.
