According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on the evening of May 20, 2025, a Baloch citizen lost his life due to unprovoked shooting by police forces in the Gerenchin area of Khash County.
The identity of the Baloch citizen has been reported as Vahid Mahmoudzehi, 35 years old, son of Jomeh, married, and father of two children, a resident of Khash County.
According to the report, he was driving his personal vehicle near the Gidbast intersection in the Gerenchin area when he was shot without any prior stop or warning by the police forces. He died instantly due to a bullet wound to the head.
This incident occurs amid numerous reports of reckless behavior by military and police forces in various parts of Balochistan, particularly in border areas where many residents are engaged in occupations such as farming and animal husbandry. In these regions, armed forces engage in direct and deadly shootings without adhering to military regulations that mandate the protection of citizens’ lives, a pattern that claims the lives of hundreds of people in this province annually. In most cases, the families of the victims, despite seeking justice through judicial and security institutions, receive no effective response, and the cases are left unresolved without accountability.
