According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on the night of May 12, 2025, a Baloch citizen lost his life due to the lack of diagnostic and medical facilities at Imam Ali Hospital in Chabahar and his delayed transfer to a hospital in Kerman. This individual, after six days of being hospitalized in the intensive care unit without a diagnosis, suffered brain death due to the spread of infection to his brain and subsequently passed away.

The identity of this citizen has been confirmed as Zaker Bagheri approximately 37 years old, son of Isa, originally from the Irandegan area and residing in Chabahar.

On May 2, 2025, Zaker was admitted to Imam Ali Hospital in critical condition and was placed in the ICU. However, despite being hospitalized for six days, no diagnosis was provided by the doctors. Eventually, he was transferred to a hospital in Kerman, but four days later, due to the infection spreading to his brain, he passed away.

The absence of specialist doctors, diagnostic equipment, and basic medical facilities at Imam Ali Hospital in Chabahar has resulted in the loss of many patients’ lives — including children, pregnant women, and the elderly — due to delays in diagnosis and treatment. Most of these cases go unreported and receive no public attention, with only a few instances leaking to the outside world.

Despite repeated visits and promises by provincial officials and members of parliament in recent years to improve the hospital, no tangible or effective measures have been taken to resolve its issues. This neglect and lack of medical infrastructure have led locals to refer to Imam Ali Hospital as a “slaughterhouse” — a place where patients face death instead of treatment.
