According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on April 24, 2025, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, organizer of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, along with ShahG Baloch, Bebarg Baloch, Gullzadi Baloch, and Beebow Baloch — all central members and activists of the organization — launched a hunger strike in protest against the inhumane conditions of their detention and the torture they are enduring in prison. The strike is still ongoing.

This action comes amid reports of severe physical deterioration among these political activists due to violent treatment by security forces. These individuals are well-known figures in the peaceful struggle of the Baloch nation against enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the daily violence that plagues Balochistan. They have been detained solely for their resistance to structural repression and state-sponsored terror.

Despite the peaceful nature of their activities, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has not only fabricated charges and carried out unlawful arrests, but has also escalated its violence against the movement through torture, beatings, and even direct shootings at protesters.

The hunger strike by the imprisoned Baloch leaders has now emerged as their final form of resistance against these oppressive acts. Their lives and health are in grave danger, and the Pakistani government bears full responsibility for any harm or threats against these activists.

This act of defiance is not only a defense of a political movement but a cry for survival, human dignity, and the right to life for the Baloch people in the face of oppression and injustice. The continued silence of the international community and human rights organizations in the face of this situation will only serve to further entrench the cycle of violence in Balochistan.
