On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, officers from Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) raided Huda Prison in Quetta and violently removed Beebow Baloch, a prominent Baloch woman activist and member of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), from her cell. She was severely beaten and taken to an undisclosed location. It was later revealed that she had been transferred to Pishin Prison, where she has since gone on a hunger strike in protest of the violent treatment and inhumane conditions.
According to reports, Beebow Baloch was subjected to both physical and psychological torture before being transferred. She is currently being held under harsh and degrading conditions in Pishin Prison, including constant surveillance through CCTV cameras in her cell and denial of basic human rights.
Beebow Baloch was initially arrested on Friday, March 21, 2025, by Pakistani military forces without any legal warrant. Her arrest, like her previous detentions related to her political and civil rights activism, has been carried out in violation of basic human rights and without due process.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee has strongly condemned this act of violence, holding Pakistani security agencies and the state directly responsible for Beebow Baloch’s safety and well-being. The committee has called for her immediate and unconditional release. It also emphasized that the targeting of Baloch women activists reflects the systematic repression and a calculated effort by the state to silence the voice of the Baloch people.
In recent weeks, several key members of the Baloch solidarity movement, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch, have been violently detained and imprisoned by the Pakistani regime. These arrests have sparked widespread protests across Balochistan on both sides of the border.
