On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, Peyman Kahrazahi, a Baloch political prisoner, was granted a five-day furlough after posting bail in the amount of 8 billion Iranian rials (IRR).
Peyman Kahrazahi, born in 1991, is married, has a child, and resides in Zahedan. He was arrested on August 7, 2020, by Intelligence Ministry agents on the Mirjaveh-Zahedan road. Following his arrest, he was subjected to severe torture during three months of solitary confinement and was later sentenced to 10 years in prison.
He was charged with “propaganda against the regime” and “supporting armed opposition groups.” However, no independent evidence was presented to prove his involvement in any criminal activity. The sole basis for his conviction was his presence at a relative’s house in a neighborhood of Zahedan on the day an explosion occurred nearby. Despite the lack of direct evidence and his lawyer’s defense, the court sentenced him to a decade of imprisonment.
This case has once again highlighted concerns over due process violations and the increasing pressure on Baloch political and civil activists in Iran.
