Karaj, Iran – April 23, 2025 – Early Wednesday morning, the death sentences of seven prisoners were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison, located in the city of Karaj. Among those executed was Emanollah Barahouei, a 56-year-old Baloch man originally from Zahedan and a resident of Galikesh in Golestan Province.

According to reports from the Balochistan Human Rights Group, all seven individuals had been transferred to solitary confinement on Monday, April 21, in preparation for the execution. The identities of the remaining six prisoners have not been made public at the time of this report.

Barahouei was arrested in 2017 and had spent several years on death row before the sentence was carried out. Human rights organizations continue to express concern over the increasing number of executions in Iran, particularly involving ethnic minorities.
