April 20, 2025 – Khash, Iran
A 26-year-old Baloch citizen, *Idris Rigi*, remains forcibly disappeared nearly three weeks after being detained by agents of Iran’s Intelligence Department in the southeastern city of Khash, according to a report released today by the Balochistan Human Rights Group.
Arrest Without Warrant or Charges
On March 26, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m., intelligence forces raided the home of Idris Rigi while he was resting and arrested him without presenting a judicial warrant or informing him or his family of any charges. He was subsequently taken to an undisclosed location, and no information about his whereabouts has been made available since.
Family Left Without Answers
Over the past 23 days, Rigi’s family has repeatedly contacted various judicial and security institutions in an effort to obtain information regarding his status. However, officials have failed to provide any formal explanation or acknowledge his detention.
Call for Accountability
The Balochistan Human Rights Group has expressed serious concern about the apparent enforced disappearance of Idris Rigi and the broader pattern of arbitrary arrests targeting the Baloch minority in Iran. The organization has urged Iranian authorities to immediately disclose Rigi’s whereabouts, ensure his access to legal counsel and family, and guarantee his safety and rights under national and international law.
Background on the Region
Sistan and Baluchestan province has long been a hotspot for human rights violations, with Baloch activists and citizens frequently subjected to arbitrary detention, discrimination, and state violence. Human rights defenders have repeatedly warned about the growing use of enforced disappearances as a tool of repression in the region.
