According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, in the early hours of today, Saturday, March 22, 2025, Pakistani police arrested Dr. Mahrang Baloch, the founder of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), along with several other Baloch activists at around 5:30 AM and transferred them to an unknown location.

This arrest took place following a sit-in by Baloch protesters on Sariab Road in Shaal, alongside the bodies of those killed in a military crackdown.

On Friday, March 21, 2025, Pakistani military forces violently suppressed a peaceful gathering of Baloch people in Shaal (Quetta), the capital of Eastern Balochistan. As a result, at least three citizens were killed, and several others were injured, some of whom are reported to be in critical condition. In response to this crackdown, Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other protesters blocked Sariab Road with the bodies of those killed and staged a sit-in.

According to reports, Pakistani military forces opened fire on the protesters, killing at least three and injuring many others. The protest was organized in response to the enforced disappearances of Baloch citizens and the secret nighttime burial of 13 forcibly disappeared individuals at Kasi Graveyard in Shaal by military forces. However, it was met with brutal repression.

Dr. Mahrang Baloch stated that Pakistani military forces buried the bodies of 13 Baloch citizens at 2 AM without any respect or proper procedures. According to him, residents discovered this act in the morning when some of the bodies had been dragged out of their graves by animals.

Banuk Dr. Mahrang Baloch, as the head of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, released a video calling on all shopkeepers, merchants, and the people of Balochistan to go on strike and support the protesters in response to the killing of Baloch citizens in Shaal (Quetta).
