According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Thursday, March 6, 2025, several Baloch human rights and political activists announced that Dr. Mahrang Baloch ,a human rights and women’s rights activist and the director of the Baloch Yakjheti Committee chas been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize ,Hours after the news broke, Dr. Mahrang Baloch confirmed it in a post on the social media platform X.

In her post, she wrote:
Media outlets have contacted me regarding this news, and I can confirm that it is true. I am deeply honored by this nomination, but this is not about me. It is about the thousands of Baloch people who have been forcibly disappeared and the families seeking justice. The fight for human rights in Balochistan must not be ignored by the global civil society and civilized nations.

Dr. Mahrang Baloch was previously listed among BBC’s 100 Most Inspiring and Influential Women” in 2024 for her relentless efforts in defending women’s rights, social justice, and human rights in Balochistan.

For years, she has been working to raise awareness among Baloch women about their rights and combat systemic discrimination ,She is also one of the founders of the Baloch Yakjheti Committee, an organization dedicated to supporting political prisoners, victims of state repression, enforced disappearances, and families affected by structural discrimination in Balochistan. This committee also strives to amplify the voices of oppressed Baloch people on an international level and draw the attention of human rights organizations to Balochistan’s dire situation.

Dr. Mahrang Baloch’s nomination for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize highlights the significance of her efforts in advocating for human rights, justice, and freedom in Balochistan.Her selection as a nominee for this prestigious global award has drawn international attention to Balochistan’s crisis and the ongoing struggle of its people for their fundamental rights.
