On Sunday, February 16, 2025, a collision between a Saipa pickup truck and a trailer truck in the Sarkur area of Sarbaz County resulted in the deaths of two fuel carriers and the injury of another.

The identities of the two deceased fuel carriers are as follows:

  • Morteza Sarkuri, approximately 20 years old, son of Adham.
  • Saud Baluchi, approximately 23 years old, son of Abdulmajid, and a resident of Gazektan village, Sarkur rural district.

The injured fuel carrier has been identified as Hedayatullah Siriyazeh, approximately 22 years old, son of Enayatullah, and a resident of Padig village, Sarbaz County.

According to received images and reports, local residents quickly attempted to rescue the victims but were unsuccessful. Two individuals died on the spot. The accident also led to the temporary closure of the Sarbaz-Iranshahr road, forcing vehicles to take alternative routes.

The region lacks emergency response facilities, and local residents had to recover the bodies from the wrecked vehicles using their limited resources.

According to annual reports, from the beginning to the end of 2024, at least 479 fuel carriers were killed or injured in various incidents. Among them, 253 lost their lives, and 226 were injured. As a result of shootings, pursuits, and beatings by military forces, 136 fuel carriers were killed or injured—63 deaths and 75 injuries. Two of these shootings were carried out by Pakistani military forces.

Additionally, in attacks and shootings by unidentified armed individuals and thieves, 3 fuel carriers were killed and 7 injured. In 2024, at least 2 fuel carriers drowned while transporting fuel. Furthermore, 3 fuel carriers died, and 7 suffered burns in fire-related incidents.
