According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, a landmine explosion in the border areas of Saravan County resulted in the injury of three Baloch citizens, including a teenager.
The incident occurred in Eskan village, in the Bam-Pošt district, when a teenage boy stepped on a landmine while herding sheep near the border. After he went missing, two other villagers went to search for him, but they also fell victim to a landmine explosion.
The injured individuals have been identified as Asadollah Zahrozei, known as Kheirjan, 14 years old, son of Gholamjan, a resident of Li-Khaki village in Bam-Pošt district; Emam Bakhsh Balochzehi; and Moljan Balochzehi.
According to the report, Asadollah sustained severe injuries to his leg, with shrapnel penetrating his foot. Moljan suffered wounds to his hand and leg, though his overall condition has been reported as stable. Emam Bakhsh sustained superficial injuries and has been discharged from the hospital after receiving medical treatment.
Extensive landmine contamination in the border areas of Balochistan has posed a threat to the lives of Baloch residents for years. These landmines, left unmarked in residential areas and along the paths used by villagers and nomads, have so far caused the death and injury of numerous civilians.
The authorities’ negligence regarding this crisis has put the safety and lives of Baloch citizens at constant risk. The failure to clear these areas of landmines has perpetuated this danger in the daily lives of the local population, while no effective measures have been taken to resolve the issue.
