According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, thousands of Baloch citizens from across Balochistan gathered in Dalbandin on Saturday, January 25, 2025, to mark the first anniversary of the designation of “Baloch Genocide Day.” This peaceful assembly, which included activists, intellectuals, and tribal elders, became a powerful symbol of unity and resistance against systemic oppression and state violence targeting the Baloch people.

Dr. Mahrang Baloch’s Message: “A Referendum Against Oppression”

Following the conclusion of the gathering, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, a prominent human rights activist, released a heartfelt statement, calling the event a “mass referendum against the system of oppression imposed on the Baloch nation.”

Her full message read:
“The Dalbandin national gathering is a referendum by the Baloch people against the state’s system of repression and violence. The success of this event is the result of the unity and determination of the Baloch nation. People from every corner of Balochistan came together, demonstrating an extraordinary level of solidarity and cohesion. They sent a clear message to the state: the Baloch are united and unwavering in their stand against genocide and in their fight for national survival.

To my fellow Baloch, I say this is just the beginning of our struggle. Eradicating the scars of injustice and resisting the genocide of our people requires a prolonged, disciplined, and patient effort.

As the Baloch have shown remarkable unity and resilience in events such as the Baloch Long March, the Gwadar ‘Raji Muchi’ sit-in, and now the Dalbandin gathering, we are paving the way for a brighter future for our people. If we continue this struggle with the same determination and solidarity, no power in the world can stop us from achieving our goal.

I extend my deepest gratitude to the brave and hospitable people of Dalbandin and Chagai for their courage, sincerity, and determination in playing a vital role in the success of this national gathering.”

A Message of Unity and Resistance

The event, held to honor the victims of decades of violence and systemic discrimination against the Baloch people, carried a resounding message of resilience and justice. Participants called for an end to enforced disappearances, arbitrary executions, and state-imposed poverty, urging the international community and human rights organizations to take notice of the ongoing crisis.

Final Declaration of the Gathering

The gathering concluded with a joint declaration that emphasized the following key points:

  1. An end to genocide and state violence against the Baloch people: The participants urged international organizations to prioritize addressing these issues.
  2. A commitment to justice and freedom: They emphasized the need for a sustained, unified, and organized struggle to achieve fundamental rights.
  3. Strengthening national solidarity: The declaration highlighted that unity is the most potent weapon against oppression and injustice.

Conclusion

The Dalbandin gathering was not just a commemoration of the Baloch Genocide Day but a testament to the unyielding spirit and determination of the Baloch people. It served as a reminder that despite decades of violence and marginalization, the Baloch nation remains united in its quest for justice, dignity, and self-determination. Dr. Mahrang Baloch’s words echo the hope and strength of a people who refuse to be silenced, knowing that their unity is their greatest asset in building a future where freedom and equality prevail.
