According to the Balochistan Human Rights Group, at dawn on Monday, December 30, 2024, the death sentence of at least one Baloch prisoner, who had been transferred to the quarantine section of Isfahan Central Prison on Saturday, December 28, was carried out.
The identity of this prisoner has been reported as “Korous Naroui,” also known as Kourosh, a 47-year-old married man with three children, originally from Nosratabad and residing in Zahedan.
According to the report, Korous was arrested approximately six years ago in Naein, Isfahan, by military forces on drug-related charges. He was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of this city and was transferred from the general ward to a solitary confinement cell in Isfahan Prison on Saturday, December 28, in preparation for the execution of his sentence.
It is noteworthy that on Sunday, December 29, Korous’s family met with him for their final visit in the prison.
According to the annual report of the Balochistan Human Rights Group, at least 184 Baloch prisoners were executed in 26 cities across Iran in 2023 on various charges. Among these, Zahedan Prison recorded 54 cases and Birjand Prison 31 cases, marking the highest number of executions. At least four women were also among the executed.
